COMM AND NAV

There's two com and nav radios, and their use is fairly straightforward. Notice there is a small toggle switch that turns your DME receivers on or off.

If your radios don't tune, please see the PROBLEMS/FAQ'S section for an explanation of why this is happening and how to fix it.

The mouse click areas have been made wide so that you don't have to hunt for the proper area.  Click outside the knob to tune whole numbers.  The + and - sign in the hand cursor should disappear.  To tune fractional numbers, move the cursor toward the center of the knob.  The + and - signs should then appear.



ADF

ADF #2 does not work since we don't have second ADF capability in MSFS. The digits will tune up and down, but it won't actually do anything.



TRANSPONDER

The transponder is also the controller for the TCAS. The TCAS is a dummy, but will go through a self test  when the mode knob on the transponder is set to either test position. When in the test position, the knob is spring loaded and will return to the standby position.



AUDIO CONTROL PANELS

These two boxes control which radios you are monitoring and how you are transmitting. The box on the left is for the Captain, and the one on the right for the first officer. The FO's box on the right does nothing. The switches move but don't do anything useful.

Looking at the left box, you have various toggle switches that select which radios you are listening to. In the above example, we are listening to the ADF 1, marker beacon receiver, interphone, and VHF Com 1 radio. 

To listen to the Nav 1 or 2 morse ident, turn on the respective Range switches on the Captain's box.

On the right side of the box in the center is your transmit selector. For compatibility reasons, this is disabled and does nothing. MS has FS set up to where the radio you are monitoring is also the radio you are transmitting on, so that is the way I had to set it up on the panel. 

So looking on the left box at the three toggle switches in the upper right corner, we are transmitting and listening to Com 1 because that is where the toggle switch is. 

The 727 would normally have a third Com selected by the third switch, but here I have it label "1+2" as it is the MS way of controlling the Com's.

Note that only the devices that work within FS itself are selectable on the box. We don't, for instance, have an HF1 or 2 or a PA system available to us, so don't expect these switches to actually do anything productive.
